Editors are responsible for the accuracy and clarity of content for publishing. They look at copy from writers and make sure that the language and grammar is sensible to readers.

What Editors Do

  • Read content and correct errors in the spelling, punctuation, and grammar
  • Verify facts using standard reference sources
  • Evaluate submissions from writer and work with them to help their ideas succeed
  • Work under deadlines and approve final versions submitted by staff
  • Allocate space for the text, photos, and illustration that make up a story

Work Environment

Editors usually work in offices, but advances in technology now allow some editors to work wherever they have a computer.
